JG: Are you able or willing to elaborate on this post:Quote:
If anyone has had Elemetal, NTR, or OPM bars tested for purity/fineness, I would be interested in hearing the results.
I have not and had no intention of doing so. Should I be concerned?

Sorry for the delay, I missed this post. I am looking into some allegations that some Elemetal/NTR/OPM bars may be less than entirely pure. I have no information suggesting serious issues for any one individual (e.g. I haven't heard any reports that their bars are made of tungsten or anything like that). But the information I have received suggests there may be a problem with the fineness in some cases (e.g. .980 fine rather than .999 fine). I'm trying to get a sense of whether this is a widespread issue, whether it could just have affected a certain batch from one point of time, which metal(s) and brand(s) may be involved, and whether there are other more serious issues (such as a .980 fine gold bar plated with .999 fine gold to help avoid detection). If the allegations are correct, it could make their bars worth less, but we aren't talking about bars with no precious metal in them.
